The proposed initiative prepares legislative instrument for faster roll-out of so called zero emissions vehicles (ZEV) in the EU.
The initiative would diminish the scope of the Clean Vehicles by concentrating only on ZEV’s, instead of all clean vehicles defined by the revised Clean Vehicles Directive.
The Bioenergy Association of Finland urges to expand the planned initiative by including alternative fuels as defined in the Directive. This action would create broader participation and ensure a technology-neutral approach. On alternative fuels, such as carbon-neutral fuels, the Union has a highly competitive technological autonomy. The broader approach would ensure legislative consistency with CO2 standards and CCUS targets. Similarly, it would ensure that European companies have several options that fit in the very different realities around Europe. We believe the broader approach would align perfectly with the Clean Industrial Deal.
