Site Visit to Vantaa Energy’s Waste-to-Energy Plant
As part of Bio-CO2 Use and Removal 2026, participants are invited to join an exclusive site visit to Vantaa Energy’s Waste-to-Energy Plant on Monday, 4 May (afternoon). The visit will showcase Vantaa Carbon Capture, Finland’s first industrial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. This pioneering initiative is laying the foundation for a national carbon capture, utilization and storage infrastructure and value chain, enabling new opportunities for carbon removal and climate action across sectors.
During the visit, participants will gain:
A current overview of the prerequisites for carbon capture from an energy company’s perspective
The latest updates on the progress of the Vantaa Carbon Capture project
We will hear expert presentations from Hanna Pitkänen, Project Director, Vantaa Carbon Capture and Erika Laajalahti, Sector Manager, Carbon Removal & CCUS, Bioenergy Association of Finland.
Following the presentations, participants will join a guided tour of the Waste-to-Energy Plant, offering a first-hand look at Vantaa Energy’s energy production. The visit concludes with coffee and networking, providing an excellent opportunity to continue discussions with industry experts and fellow participants.
Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The organizer will contact the participants beforehand with the visit details and confirmation of participation. You can sign up for the visit in the event registration form under the separate question on the site visit.
